FISH ANALYSES
The Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory provides High Resolution 550 - 850 chromosome banding and fluorescent in situ hybridizations (FISH) to detect microdeletions and other chromosomal abnormalities. GeneCare offers consultations, full test interpretation and rapid turnaround time for the following:

Metaphase Chromosome Probes
- Whole Chromosome Paints: 1-22,X,Y
- Centromere Alpha Probes: 3-4,6-12,15,17,18,X,Y,13/21,14/22, Satellite III - 15, Yqh
- Telomere Probes: 1-22,X,Y
CPT: 88365; 83896 Turnaround time: 10 days or less.
Specimen Collection and Transport:
- To submit specimens, complete Laboratory Request Form and collect Amniotic fluid 25-30ml, CVS > 15-30mg in sterile tissue culture media or Blood - 10ml Sodium Heparin tube. Transport in GeneCare kit.
- Label specimens with patients full name, date and time biopsied.
- High resolution chromosome GTG banding, AFAFP and AChE are provided as needed.
- Molecular analysis should augment, not replace, cytogenetic analysis.
- Before shipping, call our Center with DHL/Airborne or FedEx tracking number to insure successful delivery. Check "Priority Overnight" always and mark "Saturday Delivery" on Friday shipments. Specimens are accepted 7 days a week.
